      POSITION SUMMARY:
      Plan and perform work involved in scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance, repairs, and programming of intercoms, PSTN and VOIP phone systems, voice mail systems, and sound systems.

      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
      • Install, inspect, program, troubleshoot and repair intercoms.
      • Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and install PSTN and VOIP phone systems.
      • Repair and maintain electronic clocks and clock systems.
      • Responsible for documenting work completed using the work order process to include documentation of time and materials to complete work. Communicate with Supervisor about issues and needs for department either verbally or written.
      • Recommend repair needs to potentially eliminate ongoing and future repairs. Recommend capital expenditures for budget purposes.
      • Perform programming, data backup and restoration functions for electronic systems.
      • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and initiate work orders to repair deficiencies.
      • Maintains and observes all safety policies and procedures ensuring safe work conditions and reducing hazards. Reports safety and fire hazards or conditions warranting repair to supervisor. Applies energy conservation measures at all times. Considered essential staff in times of emergency.
      • Performs other related duties as assigned.

      WORKING CONDITIONS:
      • Requires extensive safety training and/or protective devices.
      • Regular exposure to hazardous conditions, moving machinery and/or vehicles.
      • Working in high precarious places.
      • Risk of electrical shock.
      • High dust, dirt, grease environment.
      • Occasional exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness and/or humidity.

      PHYSICAL EFFORT:
      • Typically standing and/or walking.
      • Climbing ladders or scaffolds.
      • Driving and/or operating heavy equipment.
      • Requires reaching by extending hand(s) and/or arm(s) in any direction.
      • Typically crawling and/or kneeling.
      • Typically pushing and/or pulling.
      • Requires handling by seizing, holding, grasping, or turning hands, but with finger dexterity.
      • Heavy lifting or carrying 80 lbs or more

      KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
      Formal Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Vocational or technical school, certification, training or apprenticeship preferred.
      Work Experience: Minimum of three years experience in working with phone systems, intercom, and clock systems preferred.
      Licences, Registrations or Certifications:
      • Criminal background check required for hire.
      • Driver’s license in good standing.
      • Ability to successfully complete a pre-hire, post-offer, physical examination.
      • Bogen multicom certification within two years of hire.
      • Low voltage certification preferred such as Network Plus, T-2, L-6, or C-6 licence.
      • AHERA (asbestos) training required within 60 working days of employment.
      Technical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
      • Experience with intercom systems.
      • Knowledge of telephone and PSTN circuitry.
      • Experience with master clock systems
      • Experience with phone and voice mail systems incluidng Toshiba, Mitel, and Octel systems.
      • Ability to demonstrate proper safe use of equipment.
      • Knowledge of and ability to drive and operate facilities vehicles.
      • Mechanical and troubleshooting ability for diagnosis and repair of equipment.
      • Parts and parts manual schematic knowledge.
      • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits.
      Decision Making:
      Analytical. Available to establish broad objectives relative to the basic position duties or responsibilities. Independent judgement is required to study previously established, relevant guidelines, plan for various interrelated activities and coordinate such activities within the prescribed time.
      Communication: Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
      Age requirement: Minimum of 18 years of age.

      WAGES:
      Wage range from $29.00-$32.00 per hour, dependent upon credentials and experience. Health & welfare benefits eligible.
