Telecommunications Technician maintains an organization's telecommunications network to ensure dependable operation. Monitors network systems and performs diagnostic tests to document and report performance levels. Being a Telecommunications Technician conducts routine checks and preventative maintenance to minimize malfunctions and downtime. Troubleshoots telecommunication issues and performs or coordinates repairs. Additionally, Telecommunications Technician may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Telecommunications Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.   • RVW, Inc. is immediately hiring for a Telecommunications/Utilities Inspector to observe installation of telecommunications fiber-to-the-home projects, in Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, Iowa, & Colorado. Aerial and/or Underground Telecommunications experience of 2-5 years preferred. Additions in benefit package to include company truck, hotel, meal allowance and training. Applicants must have a current valid driver's license, be dependable, responsible and self-motivated. Must be willing to travel 100% during the week.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs daily field inspections of the contractor’s work on FTTH projects.
    • Position oversees, inspects, and monitors field work, which includes excavations, boring, plowing, trenching, placement of hand-holes, aerial strand and fiber cable installation, grounding, and monitoring restoration (sod, etc.) of work areas.
    • Performs quality calculations and records all inspection activity and maintains records to be submitted to supervisor daily. Assures all utility requirements are met.
    • Required to submit daily updates to include, but not limited to, summary of work performed, next-day work locations, customer contact/complaint calls and timesheet reporting.
    • Validates as-built to confirm any red-line changes have been incorporated into the final design and that all project completion requirements are met.
    • Required to investigate and provide damage reports any time damage has occurred.
    • Performs staking of telecommunications route.
    • Employee is expected to have acquired necessary skills to perform job reasonably well after 3-6 months.·
    • Must have current valid driver’s license.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Experience

    2-5 years experience preferred:

    • Must be knowledgeable in outside plant construction with specific focus on fiber optic deployment. Knowledge and ability of staking sheet interpretation.
    • Experience communicating and working with contractors.
    • Drafting experience a plus
