Teller provides in-person customer service to process routine financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, and loan payments. Processes requests for money orders, cashiers' and travelers' checks, and foreign currency exchanges. Being a Teller responds to customer inquiries, identifies needs, and makes referrals or cross-sells bank products and services. Prepares daily cash settlements and proof record for cash drawer and ATM following standard procedures. Additionally, Teller follows all required security procedures and policies regarding customers' personal information and money handling. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a head Teller. The Teller works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     The Teller is responsible for performing a wide range of customer service responsibilities throughout the bank. These issues relate to customers accounts which include telephone and personal contact. It is further the responsibility of this position to support the entire bank staff in their efforts to serve the customer in any way possible, including lenders and loan processing.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING DUTIES. ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS MAY BE IDENTIFIED BY THE BANK AND LISTED AS SUCH IN THE INCUMBENTS PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL ELEMENTS. VARIOUS TASKS MAY BE ASSIGNED UNDER EACH ESSENTIAL FUNCTION. THOSE THAT ARE LISTED UNDER THE EXAMPLES OF WORK ARE NOT ALL INCLUSIVE; THEY ARE EXAMPLES ONLY AND MAY BE AMENDED OR ADDED TO AS NEEDED BY THE BANK OF YAZOO.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Perform a wide variety of handling daily transactions including, but not limited to, deposits, paying out funds, receiving loan payments, loan payoffs and safe deposit box payment
    • Scanning and balancing of daily work
    • Pulling daily ATM totals
    • Balancing ATM periodically
    • Process stop payments
    • Assist customers with debit card disputes
    • Complete regulatory forms as needed

    Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Promote and maintain positive relationships with contacts, customers and potential customers
    • Promote the Banks products and services
    • Research and answer customer inquiries
    • Research and verify account information and resolve problems for customers

    • English Language Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
    • Computer and Electronics Basic knowledge of operations of computers, office equipment to include: telephone, fax, calculator, copy machine and scanner. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Oral Comprehension The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
    • Oral Expression The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
    • Speech Clarity The ability to speak clearly so others can understand.
    • Speech Recognition The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person.
    • Information Ordering The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g. patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).

    Education and/or Experience:

    High School Diploma (GED or High School Equivalence Certificate). Prior banking experience preferred. Previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience in customer service and working with the public required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
