    Job Title: Test Engineering Technician

    Department: Advanced Test/Electrical Engineering

    Reports to: Test Lab Manager

    FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly

    Shift: Days

    Salary Range: $28-$32/Hour DOE

    Summary Description:

    The primary function of the Test Engineer is to set up an instrument lab tests, and conducts heating, air conditioning, or other tests on systems, units or components. This position prepares test reports which provide documented results of tests performed. Maintains lab facilities and test equipment. 



    Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

    1. Assembles, builds, and installs fixtures for tests to be conducted, as directed by a Test Engineer.
    2. Installs necessary data collection instrumentation.
    3. Conducts tests in accordance with the test plan and request.
    4. Collects and stores required data and presents this data in charts and reports.
    5. Cleans and maintains testing equipment, shop equipment, and general facilities.
    6. Controls and maintains tools and supply inventory.
    7. Assists with calibration of test equipment.
    8. Travels to customer sites or other offsite locations to perform duties as required.
    9. Other duties as assigned

    • Is knowledgeable of company policies and quality procedures. 
    • Ensures all areas are maintained in accordance with company policy, state, federal and regulating entities.
    • Is aware of and actively supports the achievement of departmental goals. Implement new company initiatives as assigned.
    • Provide internal and on-site customer support and problem solving as a work product/services expert. Make recommendations to management regarding solutions. 
    • Able to work effectively both individually and in a team with minimal supervision; able to make decisions using own initiative based on company policy and regulating entities. Give regular updates to direct supervisor regarding progress and non-routine occurrences that may disrupt work schedule.
    • Ensure knowledge of the appropriate safety, security and environmental revisions. Handle relevant equipment with care, being concerned with safety and security. Immediately report safety concerns to Supervisor/Lead.
    • Ensure a professional appearance, use professional verbiage and maintain appropriate body language.
    • Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume regulated environment applying strong attention to detail. 
    • Ability to analyze issues, troubleshoot, problem-solve and effectively and efficiently make decisions.
    • Strong communication skills with external and internal personnel to include:   
    • Active listening skills; ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
    • Ability to clearly explain technical subjects to internal and external personnel.
    • Strive for clarity and for alleviation of tension when the need arises.
    • Able to be effective in a wide range of cultural groups and cross-cultural relationships and have the ability to communicate clearly to non-native speakers.
    • Able to work in a progressive, fast-paced environment and amongst multiple interruptions and competing demands.
    • Continue own education by staying informed of industry trends and learning new skills when possible.



    Requirements

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. AA degree in an engineering discipline preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
    2. Proficient with hand tools and shop equipment.
    3. Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written form. 
    4. Must be capable of lifting 35 lbs. and performing physically exerting tasks.
    5. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and upper management. 
    6. Ability to manage multiple priorities.
    7. Proficient with Windows based computers and familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
    8. Good attendance record.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Working knowledge of test instrumentation and equipment preferred.
    2. Familiarity with data collection and data processing techniques preferred.
    3. Familiarity with automotive electrical systems preferred.
    4. Familiarity with automotive mechanics preferred.
    5. Knowledge of automotive HVAC systems preferred.

    **A combination of education, training, and experience, which has provided theoretical and practical knowledge, will be evaluated for equivalency.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must have the ability to sit or stand at computer for extended periods of time 
    • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Sufficient manual dexterity and motor control to use common drafting implements and calculators

    Salary Grade** for this role is as follows:

    Min: $28.00/hour

    Mid: $30.00/hour
