Life Cycle Engineering is seeking a highly motivated technician with experience in submarine operations for the VIRGINIA Class Sustainment team. You will be working with the Sustainment Engineering Department to advise submarine concept designs as they are developed in the CAD 3D model. Your experience will be applied to achieve the prescribed long term maintenance sustainability, meet operational availability goals, ensure components are maintainable post ship delivery, and reduce the life cycle cost of the VIRGINIA Class submarine platform for the United States NAVY. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with a diverse group of engineers and non-degreed engineering personnel, who possess a strong reputation for producing quality ship’s design products. Experience in the operation and maintenance of submarines is highly desired for this role. A ship maintainer’s perspective with a background in supporting technical systems is invaluable to advising the ship design concept. Individuals selected for this position will be expected to develop and execute projects in support of current and future design efforts, design modifications, and maintainability improvement tasking. This will include evaluation of ship systems and component designs for maintainability, reliability, as well as life cycle cost analysis to support design decisions. Routine interaction with ship designers, engineers, program management, SUBMEPP, Naval Facilities, public shipyards, and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) is required.
