Actalent is hiring a Test Engineer in the electronics space, focused on testing and repairing PCBs.
Description:
Will troubleshoot, diagnose and repair PCBs and assemblies. Will work with system and component engineers to develop Bench Testing processes and repair procedures for new and/or updated boards.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair printed circuit boards to component level
- Apply correct Bench Test equipment for accurate diagnosis
- Reverse engineer PCBs and support creation or modification of Bench Test equipment
- Create and modify schematics and layouts from reverse engineering or new issue identification
- Create repair procedures
- Identify replacement options for obsolete electronic components
- Create Bill of Materials for efficient board assembly repair
- Ideal candidate will have knowledge and ability to repair electromechanical systems (like robots)
- Partner with tool engineers to validate effective repairs to PCBs
Qualifications:
- Experience as a high-level PCB Repair Technician (10 years ideal) OR a BS in Electrical Engineering (4 years if degreed)
- Solid understanding of electronics test equipment: multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, variable power suppliers
- Experience creating and updating bench testing tools to improve diagnostic efficiency
- Understanding of board layout involving communication protocols like Ethernet and fiber optics, etc.
- Experience reading and researching manufacturing data sheets to verify compatibility (form, fit, function)
- Practical understanding of the principles or OpAmp circuits
Highly preferred skills/experience:
- Analog circuit (especially OpAmp) experience
- FPGA experience
- Some experience programming/scripting
- Good math skills (Calculus not a requirement but a plus)
