Test Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the evaluation, recommendation and implementation of testing procedures and strategies for products, systems, components, or modifications. Acts as advisor to test engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations and acts as a liaison to other engineering functions. Being a Test Engineering Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Test Engineering Manager typically reports to a unit/department head. The Test Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Test Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The Battery Test Engineering Manager would be responsible for:
- Lead a group of tests professionals evaluating electrochemical cells and batteries utilizing automated and manual test equipment
- Perform estimations of test cost and schedule, maintain the schedule, manage costs, and provide financial analysis and reporting for all projects.
- Provide functional test spaces, equipment, and planning of resources.
- Directs and coordinates test engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation, and calibration of instruments, equipment, and control devices.
- Analyzes and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by engineering management personnel and customers.
The Battery Test Engineering Manager would have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or physical sciences; MS or PhD a plus
- 10 years of directly related experience.
- Experience with primary and secondary cell electrochemistry and methods for evaluating electrical, environmental, and safety performance.
- Experience with 49 CFR lithium battery shipping requirements, UN 38.3 testing
- Experience with Maccor battery test equipment use, maintenance, and calibration.
- Experience leading a group of engineers and technicians
- Experience estimating program costs, program management to maintain cost and schedule requirements
- S. Citizenship required for government clearance and or data/software access.
