Additionally, Test Engineering Manager typically reports to a unit/department head. The Test Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Test Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking an Engineering Design Manager - Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution to support our Utility Services group in our Hammond, IN office.
Responsibilities include:
- Management of natural gas engineering design transmission and distribution projects to meet proposed schedule and budget targets
- Provide leadership to engineers and designers supporting the natural gas projects
- Assure engineering and design compliance with natural gas standards and codes
- Develop and review client proposals for engineering design support services
- Lead and monitor safe work practices
- Experience in designing distribution main, transmission pipelines, and regulating/metering facilities
- Oversee quality control of engineering deliverables including drawings, scopes of work and specifications
- Maintain relationships with internal and external clients
- Review staff timesheets and expense reports for accuracy
- Comply with client requirements for budget forecasting
- Manage staff performance reviews
- Attend weekly management meetings and report on department performance
- Travel to client sites and company meetings on an as needed basis
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering curriculum from a 4 year ABET accredited college or university
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 10 years of Natural Gas engineering work experience
- This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Documented engineering management experience
- Liquified Natural Gas, Underground Storage and Propane Operations experience
