Test Pilot Manager oversees pilots who test model aircraft to ensure compliance with federal regulations and product specifications. Determines if model is suitable for flying and testing. Being a Test Pilot Manager organizes scheduling for testing and for demonstrations for government officials or customers. Recommends changes to cockpit or aircraft to better meet the pilot's needs or to improve flight. Additionally, Test Pilot Manager assists engineering team in developing tests and maneuvers for test pilots. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the head of a unit/department. The Test Pilot Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Test Pilot Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Minimum Qualifications:
Nine years of application development experience in quality assurance testing. At least three years of this must have been utilizing testing automation. Three years of the experience must have been at a supervisory level.
OR
An Associate's degree and seven years of the required experience as described above.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree and five years of the required experience as described above.
OR
A Master’s degree and four years of the required experience as described above.
Under the general direction of the Project Director, G-31, the Test Manager, G-27, will be responsible for overseeing and managing all system testing activities. The incumbent will coordinate a team of System Testers and the activities of the Technical Testing Center under the Transformation, Data and Program Support Office.

Hours of the positions, including questions on Telecommuting, Flextime and Compressed work week will be discussed at the time of interview.
