  • The Washington Examiner is a political news organization based in Washington, D.C. We are looking to hire a digital-savvy, driven journalist to join our team as a Copy Editor.

    Responsibilities for this position include copy editing stories, including news and opinion, for accuracy and grammar; utilizing the newsroom CMS to format stories, including the addition of graphics, pictures, video, and meta tags; managing breaking news alerts across multiple platforms, including browser, app, and email. Requirements for this position include experience in an online newsroom; sound news judgment and a cool head under time pressure; at least two years’ experience managing or producing content as part of a news organization; comfort embracing emerging storytelling techniques and technologies. The successful candidate should embrace working for a politics-focused news outlet in the nation’s capital, as well as have ideas on what the future of online news looks like. The role is primarily Monday to Friday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., but may vary from time to time, with some weekend coverage. Applicants will be expected to complete a copy-editing exam.

    Required Experience and Skills:

    • A minimum of 2 years' experience in digital news editing and/or production.
    • Keen eye for and attention to detail and accuracy
    • Knowledge of AP style
