    The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, Division of Corporations, Business, and Professional Licensing, is recruiting for multiple Occupational Licensing Examiners. The duty stations are located in Juneau and Anchorage. Teleworking opportunities are available for these positions following an initial training period.

    Working in this position you will be performing a wide variety of administrative assignments necessary to ensure qualified individuals are issued professional licenses. This position's duties include managing applicant files in a variety of formats, communicating with licensees, and ensuring supplemental documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with licensing standards. Licensing examiners are the primary point of contact for the public and serve as a liaison between the division and applicants, licensing boards, professional associations, and a multitude of federal, state, and local agencies.

    The working environment you can expect:

    The official duty station is located in our main office in Juneau on the 9th floor of the State Office Building or on the 15th Floor of the Robert Attwood Building in Anchorage. Our offices have updated furnishings and are centrally located in downtown areas of their respective communities. Telework opportunities are available for eligible employees following an initial training period.

    Recruitment Notice:

    This posting is for an open continuous recruitment for multiple vacancies that currently exist or are anticipated to exist.

    One year of technical or paraprofessional experience in an administrative field or in permit or license application review. Qualifying experience includes work such as examining, approving, and processing license applications; applying established regulations, requirements, procedures, and operations; reviewing the accuracy and completeness of routine documents; researching current accounts and source documents; assisting in the preparation of reports reflecting the examinations made, discrepancies noted, and the corrections needed; and/or researching federal and state laws and regulations. The required experience includes work such as Accounting Technician 1, Administrative Assistant 1, Insurance Licensing Examiner 1, PFD Technician 2, Wage-Hour Technician, or similar job classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
    OR
    Two years of advanced level clerical experience or providing secretarial or administrative support with an agency executive such as a deputy or assistant commissioner, division director, or executive director of a board or commission. The required experience includes work such as Executive Secretary 1, Office Assistant 2, Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 1, Secretary, or similar job classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
     
    Substitution:
    Post-secondary education from an accredited college may be substituted for either technical/paraprofessional or clerical experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).

    • Specifically address how your education and work experience meet the desired core competencies as listed above.
