Maintains tool functionality, calibration specifications, and safe condition by performing frequent inspections of tools and equipment for wear, defects, or damage. Being a Tool Crib Attendant keeps an inventory of tools by tracking the distribution of tools and users in a database or other system. Orders new tools and equipment or repairs tools as needed. Additionally, Tool Crib Attendant has training and experience in an industrial environment with familiarity of heavy machinery and tools. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tool Crib Attendant possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Under direct supervision, makes and repairs tools, dies and jigs.
Analyzes specifications, lays-out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools. Fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metal working dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools. Modifies dies to conform to engineering changes. Troubleshoots and repairs equipment.
Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires 0 -1 years related experience.Basic knowledge of how to tear down units, trouble shoot for problems, determine extent of troubles, repair damage mechanism or replace worn or defective parts and reassemble. Some knowledge of how to select the best material suited for specific purposes, troubleshoot and diagnose problems with metalworking dies and other tooling. Must be able to move at least 50 pounds.
