E2 is looking for a Distribution Design Engineer to join our team to support our main electric utility client Puerto Rico. The successful candidate will incorporate the use of PLS-CADD Lite software for the design and analysis of distribution poles with Distribution Automation devices installed in structures. Utilize PLS-POLE to design structures following LUMA Standards and Design Criteria and Constructability Sign-off Visit Reports. Leverage pre-designed framings to ensure efficiency and ensure compatibility with LUMA Standards. Create structures and perform wind load testing for FEMA 428 (145MPH) and FEMA 406 (160MPH) wind speeds following the Reliability WOP (Work Order Package) Development Guide. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Team Lead and will report directly to the Department Manager.
• Perform Pole Loading Analysis (PLA) of electric distribution circuits using PLS-CADD software.• Prepare construction plans, material requirements and cost estimates for electrical distribution overhead and underground projects.• Assist in the development of conductor replacement, structure replacements, and other Overhead and Underground projects.• Review field data, photos, etc. to meet requirements of latest updates and technologies of the customer.• Verify Bill of Materials meet the requirements of the design and client needs.• Conduct electrical design review meetings and provide minutes.• Interface with project management and designers during the design phase.• Communicate and coordinate project activities with the project manager, client, and other stakeholders as needed.• Perform careful self-checking activities to ensure the quality of work before it is presented to senior design reviewers.• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. • 0-2 years of experience working in distribution design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.• Experience with reading pole loading sheets and inputting information to PLS-CADD software. • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
• Experience with distribution design and construction standards for LUMA PR.• 3 years of experience with PLS-CADD Software• Strong written and verbal communication skills
