Tool Design Engineer designs and develops tools and machinery used to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes. Reviews product design and build requirements to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications. Being a Tool Design Engineer develops designs for fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production. Utilizes Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to create accurate, complete, and concise design models and documentation to fabricate tools. Additionally, Tool Design Engineer estimates costs, resource requirements, and materials required for tools. May manage the sourcing, quoting, or procurement of purchased tools. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tool Design Engineer work is closely managed.     Job Summary:
    House of Design LLC, a robotics system integrator in Nampa, Idaho, is seeking an exceptional individual who can immediately impact our efforts to develop and implement cutting edge automated solutions.

    Experience with Robotic Automation is highly desired. The successful candidate has to be technical, creative and resourceful with the ability to execute, from ideation and rapid prototyping through design for manufacturing. They must have a thorough understanding of industrial machine design as well as automation technologies. 

    This role will have opportunities to lead design efforts on projects ranging from functional areas to full automation systems. Mechanical Engineers will be required to collaborate with controls, robotic integration, manufacturing and service groups from ideation through assembly. 

    Responsibilities:
    • Conceptualize, design, develop, and ensure success of all mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
    • Apply engineering principles to design machines with a heavy focus on end of arm tooling, fixturing, weldments, sheet metal, conveyance, and mechanisms.
    • Identify, clarify, and confirm design requirements and ensure that they are met.
    • Manage time and priority to ensure success on projects and tasks. 
    • Prepare design review presentations to negotiate concept and design approvals. 
    • Provide support and collaborate with fellow mechanical engineers and other cross functional disciplines.
    • Ensure mechanical quality and safety robustness of all designs. 
    • May be involved in fabrication, assembly, diagnosis and repair of machines and components.
    • Acquire knowledge efficiently and apply it to solve problems.
    • Utilize experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
    • Work under general supervision, reporting to a supervisor or manager.
    • Periodic travel for installs of production equipment or systems.

    Requirements:
    • Must be a proactive highly motivated self-starter with an action bias and strong sense of urgency.
    • Candidate will have an engineering degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field. 
    • Proven track record of implementing mechanical solutions and/or 5-7 years of industry experience preferred. 
    • Experience in industrial machine design including the integration of electromechanical or pneumatic motion and robotics. 
    • Knowledge of industrial standards (ANSI and ASME).
    • Working knowledge of design related engineering principles.
    • Proficient and experienced user of SolidWorks or similar CAD Software.
    • Desire to innovate and create with a willingness to stretch the limits of what’s been done before. 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
