Tool Design Engineering Manager manages the design and development of tools and machinery to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes. Leads design reviews to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications. Being a Tool Design Engineering Manager provides expert input to resolve design issues and innovate solutions. Oversees the design, fabrication, sourcing, and procurement of fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production. Additionally, Tool Design Engineering Manager ensures design documentation and models for the fabrication of tools are accurately prepared. Controls budgets, costs, resource allocation, and materials required for tools. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Tool Design Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Tool Design Engineering Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     JOB TITLE:   

    Design Engineer

    JOB PURPOSE:

    Provide engineering design and construction services for building construction and remodeling projects.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design and plan remodeling and construction projects to meet individual, college/department and facility needs regarding access for individuals with disabilities.
    • Participate in conducting building inspections to ensure compliance with government codes and University policy.
    • Design electrical and mechanical systems for construction and remodeling projects.
    • Participate in estimating labor, material, construction and equipment costs; assist in negotiations with private contractors. 
    • Assist in coordinating University needs with utility companies' services.

    SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Assist in preparing budget recommendations. 
    • Assist with maintaining files including building drawings, key charts, utility maps, equipment and materials. 
    • Other duties as assigned.

    REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

    This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering 

    Experience:  3 years work-related experience

    Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:  

    Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

    Comprehensive knowledge of National Electrical Code

    Professional Engineers Licensure

    Experience in mechanical or electrical engineering disciplines
