Tool Design Engineering Manager manages the design and development of tools and machinery to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes. Leads design reviews to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications. Being a Tool Design Engineering Manager provides expert input to resolve design issues and innovate solutions. Oversees the design, fabrication, sourcing, and procurement of fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production. Additionally, Tool Design Engineering Manager ensures design documentation and models for the fabrication of tools are accurately prepared. Controls budgets, costs, resource allocation, and materials required for tools. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. Role and Responsibilities
Lead design projects for municipal water and sewer clients; including the design of treatment facilities, piping systems, and other infrastructure
Develop designs consistent with project requirements, considering factors such as local, state, and federal regulations
Perform supporting calculations to ensure designs meet technical specifications using proper documentation for quality control procedures
Review shop submittals, vendor and/or manufacturer drawings for compliance and general conformance
Review design drawings for dimensional compatibility, technical consistency, and adherence to company standards
Write technical specifications and prepare contract documents/project manuals
Provide technical and administrative guidance to other Engineers, Designers, and Drafters
Develop scope of work, project approach, and costs in coordination with leads
Determine budgets and schedules
Report writing
Proposal development
Work with and support junior staff
In addition, a candidate with Project Management experience will:
Supervise lead discipline engineers in the technical execution of projects
Coordinate administrative and technical project information
Supervise project controls, maintaining schedule status, cost reporting, and forecasts
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field
5-10 years of experience in water and/or sewer
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a team
Valid driver's license required
Preferred Skills
Experience in multi-disciplined projects
Pennsylvania Professional Engineer (PE) license

This position is ideal for a candidate who aspires to advance their career into a technical Project Management role. While this position is not client-facing, you will be required to travel locally to client job sites. However, this is not a travel-intensive position.
