Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor oversees skilled workers responsible for constructing, maintaining, modifying, and calibrating machine shop tools, dies, prototypes, jigs, fixtures and molds. Supervises the set up and operation of various lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines used to produce tools. Being a Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor completes high level tool development work. Ensures jobs are completed correctly and on time. Additionally, Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Responsibilities
Work safely, respecting the environmental health safety guidelines (cardinal rules)
Set, operate, and adjust machine equipment such as milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and sanders to create and modify tooling for production.
Pull tooling for production per spec., wash and store returned tooling from production per spec.
Handle torches, metal bending, and forming equipment to modify tooling.
Handle mechanical tooling and measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
Perform all duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Observe and follow all safety regulations
Proven ability to collaborate with a team
Proficient mechanical aptitude
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong initiative
Good focus and attention to detail
Good math skills
Willingness to learn machining practices and other various tasks through training

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate will regularly work near moving mechanical parts and vibration.
The Associate must be able to concentrate while multi-tasking, as he/she will be using torches, ovens, grinders, and sanders to perform the job duties.
