Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor oversees skilled workers responsible for constructing, maintaining, modifying, and calibrating machine shop tools, dies, prototypes, jigs, fixtures and molds. Supervises the set up and operation of various lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines used to produce tools. Being a Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor completes high level tool development work. Ensures jobs are completed correctly and on time. Additionally, Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members.     THE ARM GROUP is looking to hire a Full-Time -Tool and Die Maintenance Supervisor for one of our clients in the Greater Charleston, SC area for Regular Shifts.

    Job Purpose:

    · The die maintenance Supervisor supervises shop employees in a manufacturing and die maintenance environment plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions.

    Essential Functions:

    · This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

    · Manage daily shift manufacturing assignments and post-shift assignments visibly before the shift starts.

    · Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.

    · Work continuously to improve all work areas and contribute to the 7’s initiatives.

    · Ensure effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development, assists in making employment decisions, and resolves employee’s issues using a variety of problem-solving techniques.

    · Ensure full compliance with shop health and safety policies and perform accident investigations.

    · Cross-train employees to ensure production requirements can be met every day. This includes establishing and executing a manageable job rotation schedule for all reports.

    · Be visible on the production floor, to assist the production floor * Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

    · Facilitate and remove obstacles to production as they arise.

    · Complete shift labor edits accurately daily.

    Experience:

    · Die Maintenance: 4 years (Required)

    · Production Supervisor: 4 years (Required)

    Education, Experience, and Competencies:

    · Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years related experience or 2 years of college in die Tool making and 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible related experiences: or Four years of high school and five to seven years of progressively responsible related experience: or a combination of education and experience.

    · Good communication skills.

    · Basic knowledge of die tools, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic functions, and components.

    · Team Oriented.

    · Self-starter initiative / Drive/ Eager to learn.

    · Leadership: demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others

    · Production Supervisor (DM) MUST have Previous Die Maintenance Experience and an understanding of the Die tools from education.

    · The Production Supervisor (DM) can communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.

    · Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    · Ability to work collaboratively with Engineering and Quality, and other co-workers to leverage their expertise to solve complex problems.

    · The Production Supervisor must be able to prioritize work and coordinate multiple tasks within the constraints of the position

    · Must be hands-on and have a personal drive to succeed.

    · Able to handle conflict resolution and other employee complaints in a timely and professional manner.

    · A Self- Starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced deadline-orientated environment and to establish strong team relationships.

    · Required work authorization.

    · Flexibility to work 2nd or 3rd shift long term.

    · Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, daily overtime, and off shifts as needed.
