Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor oversees skilled workers responsible for constructing, maintaining, modifying, and calibrating machine shop tools, dies, prototypes, jigs, fixtures and molds. Supervises the set up and operation of various lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines used to produce tools. Being a Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor completes high level tool development work. Ensures jobs are completed correctly and on time. Additionally, Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Position Summary:
Troubleshoots, removes jams, makes adjustments and sets up equipment. Assists in keeping assigned line or lines running and productive. While maintaining line productivity, assists in material handling and machine operation duties. Reads and interprets drawings and written instructions. Will be assigned to machine operation on a periodic basis. Communicates with tool room and maintenance concerning equipment. Responsible for following all safety policies and procedures. Always performs duties with the goal of satisfying the customer.
Education, Training & Experience: High school education or equivalent. Up to two years experience is necessary to develop skills and knowledge to perform proficiently. Machines, Tools, Equipment And Work Aids: Powered lift truck, hand truck, banding equipment, bench grinder, drill press, various wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, calipers, micrometers, gauges.
