Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tool and Die Maker to join our team. As a Tool and Die Maker, you will be responsible for creating, repairing, and maintaining various types of tools, dies, and fixtures used in the manufacturing process. Your expertise in stamping press operations, CNC programming, and precision measuring instruments will be crucial in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our production processes.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or CAD files to determine specifications for tooling components
- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM machines to fabricate or modify parts
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure accuracy of dimensions
- Assemble and fit parts to make or repair tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
- Inspect finished tools for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects
- Test completed tools for proper operation
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot issues and improve tooling designs
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship program completion preferred
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, sketches, or CAD files
- Strong mathematical skills for calculations related to dimensions and tolerances
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles
- Familiarity with stamping press operations and CNC programming
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments effectively
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for tool fabrication and repair
