Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor jobs in Richmond, VA

Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor oversees skilled workers responsible for constructing, maintaining, modifying, and calibrating machine shop tools, dies, prototypes, jigs, fixtures and molds. Supervises the set up and operation of various lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines used to produce tools. Being a Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor completes high level tool development work. Ensures jobs are completed correctly and on time. Additionally, Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members.   • Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Abiltiy to read a ruler
    1. Check work of previous shift for quality & correctness and notify supervisor of any issues
    2. Check and maintain the quality of the envelope blanks throughout each job by following company quality control procedures
    3. Set up die cutting machines for each job with minimal downtime
    4. Keep machines cutting at optimum rate to meet or exceed production targets while maintaining quality standards
    5. Identify machine malfunctions, troubleshoot, and correct in a timely manner
    6. Notify a supervisor promptly when machines need maintenance/repairs above what can be completed by the die cutter
    7. Keep die cutting machine and area around machine neat & clean
    8. Fill out production paperwork and pull samples as directed
    9. Communicate with outgoing shift and incoming shift regarding equipment status, job status, and any other relevant information
    10. Perform routine maintenance on die cutting machines as directed by supervisor
    11. Be attentive to placing envelope dies back in the correct cabinet slots
    12. Duties include standing for most of the shift, repetitive hand & wrist motions, reaching with hands and arms, regular lifting of up to 50 pounds, and possibly working overtime
    13. Cross train on other cutting equipment as time and production allows and as assigned by management.
    14. Perform other duties as assigned by management from time to time
    15. Execute the responsibilities of this position following company safety policies and company procedures
