Primary Responsibility:
Oversees the operation and administration of servers supporting campus-wide applications and cloud environments; provides advanced technical support.
Primary Duties:
· Oversees administration of servers supporting campus-wide applications and cloud environments.
· Develops and maintains specialized scripts necessary for the interface between multiple applications and to facilitate system administration.
· Supervises, trains, evaluates, and provides technical work direction to professional staff.
· Analyzes, evaluates, and determines the selection and integration of new applications; performs project planning and determines training needs.
· Analyzes and participates in defining agency disaster recovery procedures and responsibilities; oversees backup/recovery system and procedures.
· Responsible for planning, budgeting, and determining staff needs, equipment needs, and space requirements for the Systems Application Services area.
· Analyzes, evaluates, and makes recommendations concerning the development of new and existing technology-related policies.
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and (5) years of related experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Expert technical knowledge of the university’s network systems, associated operating systems, layered software and client/server applications
· Ability to analyze systems and procedures, and explain abstract concepts in concrete terms; and solve complex problems
· Excellent technical skills to install and implement system programs
· Excellent supervisory skills to supervise and train staff
· Excellent written communication skills to develop documentation, reports, and correspondence
· Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and act upon decisions with some autonomy
PC Skills:
· Extensive experience in the support of Windows server operating systems and layered software
· Proficiency with microcomputers, PC software and peripherals
