As a Controller, you'll work with the CFO to monitor the company's financial status, assist with annual budgets and manage accounting transactions. To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with risk management. Ultimately, you, along with CFO and other accounting department members will make sure we comply with accounting regulations to maximize profits and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities

• Work with CFO to document, monitor, and update accounting policies
• Ensure all payments are completed on time (including accounts payable and bank deposits)
• Assist with annual budgets for all departments
• Analyze costs and profits
• Maintain and reconcile fixed assets for all subsidiaries
• Track financial KPI's
• Report on financial status on a regular basis and create ad-hoc reports when needed
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing systems
• Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations
• Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions and coordinate with CFO when necessary
• Manage the collection and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of business results across multiple department and related entities
• Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes as needed
• Evaluate accounting and internal control systems. Provide CFO and other management with information vital to the decision-making process
• Check and audit the accuracy of business transactions
• Work with the CFO to complete month-end and year-end close for regular financial reporting
• Assist CFO with quarterly consolidation of financial statements
• Monthly reconciliation of leases under ASC 842

Skills

• BS or MS in Accounting or Finance
• 2 - 5 years' verifiable experience as Controller. Experience in construction industry is a plus
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
• Develop or modify standard templates, procedures, and forms for imports / exports to improve efficiency
• Advanced knowledge of Vista systems AP, AR, invoicing, and general ledger or other construction software
• Documented experience producing financial records
• Previous experience in accounting, finance, or other related fields. Fundamental knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting procedures
• Ability to prioritize and multitask. Strong organizational skills. Deadline and detail-oriented
• Work experience as a Controller or similar role
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation
• Experience with consolidating financial statements and cash flow statements
• Hands-on experience with general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Experience with cash management and risk assessment
