Job Summary:

To effectively provide administrative support to the President, Vice President (owners), and the R&D (Research & Development) department while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

Essential Functions:

• Honor our value of honesty and transparency

• Update and maintain Smart Sheets shared between multiple departments

• Build and maintain various records and files for President and R&D

• Act as liaison for multiple internal and external relations

• Manage and maintain a detailed schedule of meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements

• Assist in the tracking of new and upcoming projects

• Effectively communicate with Collaborators

• Effectively communicate with other departments and individuals as needed

• Ability to correspond with inventors and vendors, both written and verbal, with the upmost professionalism

• Initiate weekly contact with Police Departments and Fire Houses nationwide, sending them challenge coins and informing them of our OpFocus program

• Ability to take direction and/or transcribe from emails, tape recordings and telephone calls when owners work remotely or are traveling

• Pick up mail from mailbox in Evergreen weekly and ship to Hawai’i

• Up to date record keeping on all design projects

• Screen telephone calls and emails for President

• Attend and take notes during multiple meetings, transcribe minutes from notes

• Procure information or materials for President, Vice President, and the R&D department

• Support legal department in assisting with any writing and/or filing for patents and litigation

• Joining the Spyderco phone team and helping to answer phones during some of the receptionist’s breaks and vacations

• Occasionally help out in Spyderco Factory Outlet (the retail store) when needed

Additional Responsibilities:

• Familiarization of Spyderco products, designs, steels, and materials

• Will be required to learn to use visual tools like magnifying loupes and measuring tools like calipers

• Maintain a working knowledge of specialized issues, events, projects, and Intellectual Property surrounding the R&D and Legal departments

• Drive the creation and implementation of retail displays for the Spyderco Factory Outlet Store with assistance from the owners and the R&D department

• Effectively communicate with appropriate staff regarding Spyderco subsidiaries

• Responsible for ordering office supplies as well as supplies for special projects

• Occasional errands and/or working overtime to complete a project with a deadline

• Interact and collaborate with Marketing when needed

• Maintain mailing lists

Education:

High School Diploma Required

Associate Degree Preferred

Work Experience:

3 years or more Administrative or Executive Assistant Experience Required

Knowledge and Skills:

• Superior written and verbal communication skills

• Superior organization skills

• Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

• Superior listening skills

• Must possess strong multi-tasking skills

• Must possess a self-start attitude with the ability to work with little supervision and direction

• Ability to be versatile and efficient

• Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality

• Some mechanical ability and understanding are helpful

• Some artistic and creative talent are helpful
