Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive develops, directs, and promotes the organization's global ethics and compliance function. Designs and develops programs to assess and manage legal and regulatory compliance risks and to establish high ethical standards of conduct for the organization. Being an Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive ensures that policies reflect domestic and international legal requirements and industry-specific codes governing ethical standards and comply with transparency reporting requirements. Communicates the organization's ethical standards with messaging and deliver employee training programs that raise awareness about ethics-related topics such as Anti-Bribery, Anti-Corruption, Antitrust, Conflicts of Interest, and others. Additionally, Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive monitors compliance with policies and investigates and remediates any non-compliant actions. Responsible for maintaining confidential reporting systems allowing employees, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders to disclose violations of the organization's ethical standards, violations of law, or policies without fear of retaliation. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. May require the Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)certification. Typically reports to top management. The Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Georgia Legal Services Program is a leader in creating equal access to justice and opportunities out of poverty for low-income Georgians. We fight for justice where it is most needed. Georgia Legal Services seeks a staff attorney to work in its Macon office.


    PRIMARY DUTIES:

    • Litigate cases in administrative, state and federal forums, with a focus on domestic violence survivors and kinship caregivers.

    • Case work will focus on domestic violence cases, but also encompass kinship cases, elder law cases and other legal issues affecting domestic violence survivors.

    • Draft briefs, motions and memoranda.

    • Circuit ride to assigned counties.

    • Conduct community legal education sessions and engage in outreach activities.

    • Participate on action teams that explore and solve systemic issues affecting clients.



    Requirements

     

    • Graduate of an accredited law school and current member of Georgia Bar with experience working with persons with low incomes and a commitment to social justice.

    • Willingness and ability to work as part of a team in a professional and collaborative manner.

    • Computer literacy, which includes familiarity using email, Excel, Word, SharePoint, LegalServer, and other computer programs.

    • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Georgia driver's license.

    • Ability to speak Spanish is highly valued.

    • Demonstrated interest or experience working with low-income clients on poverty law issues and commitment to social justice;

    • Ability to work with diverse populations, backgrounds and perspectives;

    • Excellent oral advocacy, research, and writing skills;

    • Attention to detail and self-motivated;

    • Ability to be creative and a team player.


    Salary Requirements:

    The salary is $55,000 depending on experience and qualifications. The program provides generous fringe benefits, including paid holidays, paid time off including parental leave; birthday  holiday; health, life, and long and short-term disability insurance; educational loan reimbursement up to $600 per month (after a $65 per month deductible); 403B with 3% match; Georgia Bar dues and CLE expenses. In addition, employees who pass GLSP’s Spanish proficiency test receive additional compensation. GLSP offers a hybrid work schedule that allows staff to work 2 days remotely subject to management approval and a probationary employment period.
