Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive develops, directs, and promotes the organization's global ethics and compliance function. Designs and develops programs to assess and manage legal and regulatory compliance risks and to establish high ethical standards of conduct for the organization. Being an Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive ensures that policies reflect domestic and international legal requirements and industry-specific codes governing ethical standards and comply with transparency reporting requirements. Communicates the organization's ethical standards with messaging and deliver employee training programs that raise awareness about ethics-related topics such as Anti-Bribery, Anti-Corruption, Antitrust, Conflicts of Interest, and others. Additionally, Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive monitors compliance with policies and investigates and remediates any non-compliant actions. Responsible for maintaining confidential reporting systems allowing employees, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders to disclose violations of the organization's ethical standards, violations of law, or policies without fear of retaliation. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. May require the Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)certification. Typically reports to top management. The Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Position Summary
The MaineHealth Institute for Research is seeking a Director of Research Ethics & Compliance to join our executive leadership team. Under the direction of the Vice President for Research, this Director is responsible for managing an effective research ethics and compliance program to facilitate the pursuit of MaineHealth’s research programs. Experience with at least several of the following will be required: IRB, IACUC, IBC, SRC, Research Misconduct, Conflict of interest, and HIPAA research issues. In our research programs, compliance with pertinent regulations and policies is essential to engendering public trust. The Office of Research Ethics & Compliance that this Director will actively manage has three main responsibilities: research compliance oversight; research compliance education; and to function as a compliance information clearinghouse. The Director will implement and manage a research compliance, oversight, and education program that provides support and education in regulatory requirements for the scientific research of faculty members, staff, and students. Certification as a Certified IRB Professional (CIP) is expected.
