Top Foundation Executive develops and leads the vision, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, and grantmaking operations that support the overall objectives of a foundation. Sets the overall goals for fundraising campaigns and program initiatives. Being a Top Foundation Executive represents the foundation to the public and media to communicate its mission, values, and accomplishments. Maintains positive relationships with foundation stakeholders, including the board of directors, grantees, community leaders, donors, and prospective donors. Additionally, Top Foundation Executive oversees the budget, distribution of foundation funds, and investment strategies to ensure the financial sustainability required to fulfill the foundation's mission. Ensures all foundation activities comply with applicable laws, reporting requirements, and regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to board of directors or trustees. The Top Foundation Executive manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Top Foundation Executive typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.   • Walnut Creek Education Foundation (WCEF) seeks a dynamic Executive Director to lead WCEF, serving as its primary leader and advocate. The ideal candidate will have strong fundraising skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and a proven track record of relationship building. They will represent WCEF to donors, partners, and the community, articulating our mission and strategic goals effectively. This role is crucial for engaging families of students and business partners in supporting WCEF's mission.

    The work of WCEF is most active during the school year. On average, the Executive Director will work 30 hours per week.Experience with DonorPerfect is a plus but not required.

    The Walnut Creek Education Foundation (WCEF TK-12) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit that raises money to close the public education funding gap and help deliver comprehensive programs and wellness initiatives to ensure every student reaches their full potential. WCEF steps in where state funding leaves off, preserving educational opportunities and services. Approximately 90 percent of the funds we raise go directly to the schools we serve.

    Leadership & Strategic Planning

    • Provide visionary leadership to achieve WCEF's mission;
    • Build and execute a strategic plan that will grow revenue every year to support WCEF’s strategic plan while engaging a broad base of parent and community support;
    • Foster a supportive, collaborative, and empowering organizational culture.

    Fundraising & Development

    • Lead fundraising efforts to secure financial support from individual donors, business partners and other agencies;
    • Lead the Board of Directors to create and implement an effective fundraising and marketing to meet fundraising goals and build long-term sustainability;
    • Identify new funding opportunities and develop innovative fundraising strategies to diversify revenue streams; and
    • Collaborate with board members to prepare sponsorship proposals, newsletters, annual report and other external-facing communications.

    Partner with the Board of Directors

    • Collaborate with the Board to enhance WCEF's governance;
    • Engage the Board in building community relationships;
    • Support the Board in cultivating institutional donors;
    • Coordinate with Board committees to advance WCEF's mission by allocating resources;
    • Assist the Nominating Committee in identifying potential Board members.

    Community Leadership & External Relations

    • Be a respected leader representing WCEF with local Parent Groups, elected officials, Superintendents, educators, local businesses, and other nonprofits aligned with mission, as well as the public at large.

    Financial Operations & Administration

    • Collaborate with partner districts to establish funding goals and fulfill mission;
    • Partner with Executive Committee to develop and execute annual budget; and
    • Work with staff and board to create and document operational processes and procedures and ensure that it is positioned to mitigate risk and weather changes;
    • Maintain transparency and accountability in financial reporting and stewardship of donor funds.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Experience leading a non-profit organization
    • Proven track record of growing fundraising revenues
    • Exceptional people skills to engage and inspire others to achieve goals
    • Experience in recruiting and developing non-profit boards
    • Experience developing a strategic plan, setting long range policy, and establishing annual program plans and goals
    • Proven track record of establishing and cultivating relationships with high donor community
    • Experience in building and managing endowment fundraising model
    • Experience managing a budget and paid consultants
    • Experience managing volunteer staff preferred
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to multitask, take initiative and work independently.
    • Passion for education and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing learners today.

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

    Expected hours: 30 per week
