    Position Overview & Purpose

    The Government Affairs Coordinator reports to the VP of Capital Planning and will play a crucial role in building and maintaining positive relationships with government entities at various levels. Responsibilities will include monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, advocating for the company's interests, and managing relevant grant opportunities.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Coordinate with State and Local Governments: Collaborate with state and local government officials to foster cooperation and support for network builds. Engage in negotiations, establish partnerships, and navigate regulatory frameworks to ensure successful project execution.
    • Coordinate Lobbying Efforts: Develop and execute effective lobbying strategies to advocate for favorable policies, regulations, and funding opportunities that align with the company's capital planning objectives. 
    • Oversee Grant Proposal Submissions: Lead the preparation and submission of grant proposals to secure funding from federal agencies, such as the Broadband Equity and Access for Development (BEAD) program. Ensure compliance with grant requirements, manage the grant application process, and maximize the probability of successful funding.
    • Helping to build relationships with key stakeholders and quasi-government influencers to influence decision-making processes.


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
    • Interpersonal skills with demonstrated success at cultivating strong relationships with government officials and internal stakeholders 
    • Experience with grant proposals, management, and monitoring
    • Experience with working with state and/or local governments
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn and adapt to new software 


    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
    • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or a related field. 
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Generates a shared commitment to the organization, building morale and encouraging ownership of our why and values.
    • Effectively creates a vision for change and engages others to implement the change process. 
    • Ability to assess and navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
    • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
    • Master's degree in a relevant field.
    • Experience working in the telecommunications or ISP industry.
    • Knowledge of broadband expansion programs and initiatives.
    • Demonstrated success in securing and managing grants.
