The Group Underwriting Coordinator provides technical support to underwriting department in an efficient and timely manner. This is an in office position. 

Responsibilities: 

• Assists underwriters in the quotation of proposals, renewals and sold cases by preparing information for their review.
• Maintains data for record keeping on proposals, new groups, renewals, and amendments necessary to produce management reports.
• Performs new case set-up and preliminary underwriting checks of initial material and census data.
• Monitors daily premium edit reports.  Works with partner billing managers to monitor premium in arrears.
• Loads all new group and updated contract documents. 
• Ensures files are properly documented with all underwriting information required by Horace Mann and reinsurers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: 

• High School diploma/GED equivalent is required.
• College degree preferred.
• One to two years of experience in insurance industry, preferred.
• Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must also have superior organizational skills and the ability to prioritize the workload.
• Demonstrates a desire and capacity to expand knowledge, develop new skills and grow professionally.
• Working knowledge of computers is required, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, and other mainframe applications as necessary.
