Control Center Operator Work Leader

  • Duties

    • Serves as a Control Center Operator Work Leader assuring completion of documentation, planning, scheduling, coordination, training, and development/maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures.
    • The incumbent has individual responsibility for control of hydroelectric power plants, switchyards, reservoirs, water release equipment and interconnected power lines, utilizing a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system in combination with manual operation when necessary.
    • Operates hydroelectric generators by starting, stopping and controlling as necessary to meet water or power requirements.
    • Controls water release equipment, such as jet flow gates, hollow jet valves, drum gates, guard gates and radial gates, in combination with the generators to control river flow at all facilities.
    • Prepares switching program forms and performs switching to accomplish and issue clearances, hotline orders, general switching and special conditions on all delegated facilities.
    • Coordinates power clearances with transmission and generation dispatchers, customers or other proper authorities.
    • Reports failures and problems to system dispatchers, power schedulers, and appropriate supervisors both verbally and by completing interruption and unsatisfactory equipment reports.
