Job Title: Executive Director
Job Summary: The Executive Director, in collaboration with the Board and the dedicated team, will play a pivotal role in crafting and implementing a Strategic Plan that charts the course for a cleaner, safer, and more attractive Allegheny County. This role will be responsible for fostering community engagement, eliminating illegal dumping, securing essential revenue, and leading the staff to support the mission of this non-profit while maintaining efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Board and the team to develop a forward-thinking Strategic Plan that defines the organization’s strategy in pursuit of a cleaner, safer, and more beautiful/sustainable Allegheny County.
2. Community Engagement: Work closely with communities to empower and engage residents in the effort to eradicate illegal dumping across Allegheny County.
3. Fundraising: Lead development activities to raise the necessary funds to meet the organization’s revenue targets and grow the organization per the strategic plan.
4. Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team by recruiting, retaining, and motivating quality staff. Provide development opportunities and delegate authority, fostering a sense of ownership over the organization’s mission.
5. Staff Evaluation: Evaluate staff performance and ensure equitable compensation and benefits.
6. Succession Planning: Implement and oversee a robust leadership, staff, and Board succession plan to ensure the organization’s continued development and long-term success.
7. Board Development: Recruit quality Directors and Advisors in partnership with the Governance Committee, striving for a diverse and effective Board to maximize potential.
8. Leadership Development: Provide ongoing opportunities for Directors and staff to enhance their leadership skills, support fundraising efforts, and increase awareness of the mission.
9. Volunteer Engagement: Work with the staff to recruit and retain a dedicated group of volunteers who can support and promote the organization’s mission.
10. Policy and Procedure Compliance: Ensure that staff and volunteers operate in alignment with the Board-approved policies and procedures, as documented in published guidelines and legal documentation.
11. Communication: Effectively communicate policies, procedures, legal documents, meeting agendas, minutes, and other essential information to enable the Board to govern the organization efficiently.
12. External Representation: Act as a representative when interfacing with external organizations, funders, government agencies, educational institutions, shelters, and other relevant entities.
13. Financial Oversight: Oversee financial activities to meet financial budgetary targets and ensure adherence to established policies and procedures, reporting to the Board as required.
14. Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively communicate the goals, purpose, and programs of the mission to partners, stakeholders, news media, and other potential audiences.
