Job Requirements/Eligibility
❖Candidates must have a safe driving record and pass a background check and drug screen
❖Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills
❖ Complete State required paperwork for students to receive their certificates
❖ Must be over 21 years of age
❖ Must hold a valid driver’s license for at least 5 years
❖ Must have a clean driving and criminal record
❖ Must have a high school diploma or GED
❖ Successful completion of *Driver Education Instructor Training*
*What does Driver Education Instructor Training consist of?*
You will be required to do observations in a classroom and behind the wheel setting with students taking driver education. Observation hours consist of 24 classroom hours and 16 hours behind the wheel. In addition, you will need to complete the 1 day (8 hour) Basic Instructor Training Course in Columbus. Once observation hours and the BIC is complete, you will have a 2 hour classroom evaluation and a 2 hour behind the wheel observation, totaling the entire training to 52 hours. Ohio Driver Education Instructor Training is easily completed within a 6-8 week period!
