    As a Senior SDE, you will have the opportunity to shape the next generation delivery technology, work process and customer/driver experience. Your will be part of the center of competency for embedded, mobile, wearable devices, sensors, and end-to-end sensing and analytics. Must have experience with low-latency, real-time applications in constrained environments on the edge . The ideal candidate has experience with computer vision, camera systems, and other IoT edge devices.

    Your team will also supervise and interact with hardware design, manufacturing, testing, and certification. You are expected to articulate and champion the product, vision, and development timeline in a cross-organization, cross-function and cross-geo environment with senior executives, as well as design, R&D, product management, operation, and finance teams. You will leverage your knowledge, experience, and network to deliver technology, solutions, as well as maximizing the long term potential of each individual engineer.




    Key job responsibilities
    You should have Strengths in one of the following areas or Mild Strength in at least two:

    - Embedded System Platform (i.e. Nvidia Jetson)
    - Machine Learning (CV)
    - Application Layer & AWS (Kotlin/Java).

    Experience in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, and/or hardware compute is a plus.

    Skills

    - Be an engineer and not just a software developer.
    - Be embolden and excited by challenges and ambiguity.
    - Be highly interdisciplinary in learning and applying (Jetson, Computer Vision, AWS, Linux, OTA, UI).

    About the team
    We are a senior team (L6s and L7s) inventing an embedded system (Hardware, Mechatronics, Software, and Machine Learning) to be deployed in the entire Amazon delivery fleet.

    We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

    Santa Cruz, CA, USA

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    - 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience
    - 5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
    - 5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
    - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    - 5 years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
    - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market.
