  • As a Sustainability Advisor, you will play a crucial role in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and fostering environmental stewardship. You’ll collaborate with farmers, staff members, and customers to enhance conservation efforts while aligning with Frontier Cooperative’s product offerings. Your expertise will empower farmers to achieve their conservation goals, optimize yields, and protect natural resources. 

     

    Responsibilities: 

    Technical Assistance and Education 

    • Provide technical guidance to farmers transitioning to climate-smart agricultural practices, including:  
      • Implementing cover crops 
      • Reducing tillage 
      • Precision nutrient management 
      • Other regenerative farming practices 
    • Educate staff members and customers about these practices and their benefits. 

    Customized Conservation Plans 

      • Collaborate with farmers to develop personalized conservation plans tailored to their specific needs. 
      • Set realistic conservation goals and recommend appropriate products and services from Frontier Cooperative’s portfolio. 

      Product Awareness

      • Raise awareness among customers about Frontier Cooperative’s offerings related to conservation:  
        • Soil health practices 
        • Cover crops 
        • Additional services 
      • Highlight how these products contribute to sustainable farming practices. 

      Field Demonstrations and Workshops

      • Organize field demonstrations and workshops to showcase best practices in conservation. 
      • Engage farmers in hands-on learning experiences to enhance their understanding of conservation techniques. 

      Data Analysis and Reporting

      • Collect and analyze data related to conservation practices. 
      • Prepare reports on the impact of conservation efforts and share insights with stakeholders. 

      Collaboration

      • With Frontier Advisors on alignment of conservation plan and whole farm plan 
      • Work closely with Frontier Advisors, extension agents, and industry experts to stay informed about the latest advancements in conservation practices. 
      • Collaborate with local organizations and agencies to promote conservation initiatives. 

       

      Qualifications: 

      • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, Environmental Science, or related field. 
      • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) designation preferred. 
      • Strong understanding of conservation practices and their implementation. 
      • Excellent communication skills to effectively educate and engage stakeholders. 
      • Passion for sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.
