    Responsibilities

    We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineering Manager at our Torrance, California location.  In this position, you will administer, manage, and maintain the established Quality System and coordinate contract Quality requirements across programs. The position will require coordination of best practices between various internal operations by: administrating the program of Quality objectives and activities, data analysis, measurement, monitoring, corrective action, and preventative action activities.

     

    The Quality Engineering Manager will support and maintain the program Quality requirements and prepare reports for Operation Management review sessions on various programs.

     

    Serve as Quality project leader and plays a lead role in completing complex components of large-scale data collection and trend analysis, and Coordinate centralized online scheduling and tracking tool to prepare for company improvement recommendation as it relates to various data from yield analysis, to include support of root cause and corrective actions.

     

    Be responsible for compliance to the documentation Policy, assuring that all required documents are controlled.  Ensures that correct procedures are followed and that documentation is prepared in accordance with standards.  Provide expertise on all Modules of the Quality Management System including: 

    • Training Management
    • Audits Management
    • Non-Conformance
    • Corrective/Preventive Actions
    • Related Activities, AS 9100 and contract requirements
    • Maintenance, Measurement & Monitoring and data collection
    • Quality Non-conformances & Product Defect Tracking  

    Will Interface with Customers for Quality related issues, Support of Customer Audits – as required, Action any Findings/Observations within required reporting period Provide support to Quality Engineering, Quality processes related to:  PMR/MRB, RI, and Non-conformances, Proposal development, Contract Review for Quality Requirements.

     

    Communicates with parties within and outside of the organization which includes customers or vendors. Works to influence others to accept individual or team’s views or practices and changes to concepts, practices, and approaches. Requires ability to communicate with leadership regarding matters of importance to the function or business area. May conduct briefings with senior leaders.

     

    Work consists of making significant improvements of processes, systems, solutions, or products to enhance performance of job area. May develop new concepts or standards. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are undefined, where information is difficult to obtain. Conducts extensive investigation to understand root cause of problems. Problems span a wide range of difficult and unique issues across the function and/or business area. Other responsibilities include:

     

    • Manages a team with focus on policy and strategy implementation. Establishes operational plans with measurable contribution towards the achievement of results of the job function. Focus is on short-term operational plans (e.g. less than 1 year). Provides measurable input of new products, processes or standards in operational plans that will have some impact on the achievement of overall functional results. Typically, does not have budget or Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability, but may manage certain processes or projects within a defined budget set by management.

     

    • Communicates with parties within and outside of the organization which includes customers or vendors. Works to influence others to accept individual or team’s views or practices and changes to concepts, practices, and approaches. Requires ability to communicate with leadership regarding matters of importance to the function or business area. May conduct briefings with senior leaders.

     

    • Leads and directs experienced professionals, lower level supervisors, or associate managers. Communicates within and outside of organization to explain and influence changes to policies, practices, or approaches. Makes significant improvements in processes, systems, or products. Establishes short-term operational plans with measurable contribution to function or business area results. Requires management and leadership knowledge in job area and comprehensive knowledge within professional discipline.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering is needed; advanced degree preferred
    • At least 15 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, quality, or engineering in aerospace, high tech field or related environment 
    • Must have AS9100 experience 
    • Strong administrative and leadership skills; with a strong focus on administrating the document management clauses of AS requirements 
    • Robust familiarity with the full Office Suite of Microsoft including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Project Manager as well as Adobe Writer/Reader. 
    • Great interpersonal and communication skills are required to establish effective working relationships with suppliers as well as personnel within the company.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Preference given to Quality Engineering skills and expertise, Strong organizational skills.
    • Managed individual(s) typically consisting of experienced professionals, lower level supervisors, or associate managers.

    • Led, directed and reviewed the work of direct report(s) who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
