Being a Trade Show Manager approves the design, layout, cost estimates, and construction of exhibits and displays. Negotiates with vendors and service providers for best arrangements within budget. Additionally, Trade Show Manager may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Trade Show Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. The Rock and Roll Playhouse is a weekly children's-music-concert series that allows kids to “move, play and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon” (NY Times). Created by entrepreneur and owner of The Capitol Theatre and co-owner of the Brooklyn Bowl, Peter Shapiro, and Amy Striem, a certified Early Childhood and Elementary teacher, The Rock and Roll Playhouse uses music to educate children and explore their creativity. Founded in 2013 in New York City at its flagship venue, Brooklyn Bowl, the Playhouse has now expanded to seventeen cities — Austin, Asheville, Boston, Boulder, Burlington, Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Mill Valley, Nashville, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, South Florida, and Westchester — and eighteen venues.
Teaching Artist
The Teaching Artist is responsible for keeping the energy and pace of The Rock and Roll Playhouse Show. The ideal candidate should be energetic, outgoing, and confident.
· Facilitates and leads the show activities
· Works closely with the band to review set list and activities
· Liaison between the band and the crowd
· Introduces the show and emcees with an upbeat stage presence
· Interacts with the children and their families, hyping up the crowd
Event Coordinator/Show Manager
The Event Coordinator oversees the entire Rock and Roll Playhouse production from start to finish.
· Main point of contact for any onsite issues regarding the RRPH show
· Interacts with the band, RRPH staff, venue management, and guests to ensure all tasks are being performed properly.
· Ensures the event and staff are all keeping to the time schedule
· Assists with selling merch when applicable
· Ensures the event has everything needed to function properly (i.e limbo stick, parachute, props)
· Completes an End of Day report to give the RRPH team a summary on how the show went
