    Position Title: Office Assistant

    Department: Municipal Court

    Location: 501 Virginia Street East.

    Number of open positions: 1

    Anticipated Start Date: June 3, 2024

    End Date: August 9, 2024

    Hours of work per week: 35

    Business/Work Hours: 9:00am -5:00 pm Mon-Fri

    Pay Rate: $12


    General Description:

    The purpose of this class within the organization is to implement a variety of community, recreational, cultural, special events, and other programs at City of Charleston designated facilities for youth ages 16 - 20 years of age. Program employment dates are June 3, 2024 - August 9, 2024, and may be extended based on employee availability and departmental needs.

    Work hours: Maximum 35 hours per week.

    This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.


    Responsibilities, tasks, and projects:

    Data entry

    Filing

    Greet Municipal court visitors.

    Answer and direct telephone calls.

    Other duties as assigned.


    Candidate requirements:

    Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

    Must be 16 years of age or older.

    Ability to kneel and bend comfortably to file.

    Ability to sit for up to 7 hours per day.

    Ability to lift to 30 pounds.


    Dress Code:

    Casual dress, such as jeans and T-shirts (no political or controversial images/text), sneakers or comfortable footwear, no shorts or flip-flops.
