  • Under the direct supervision of the Chief Deputy Clerk Civil Division, a Deputy Clerk Civil Division receives and processes all filings pertaining to civil actions filed in FMC. Deputy Clerks are appointed by the Administrative Judge and serve at his/her pleasure.

    NOTICE AT WILL POSITION:

    This position is an “” position. The person(s) employed by the Findlay Municipal Court under this job classification serve solely at the pleasure of the Administrative Judge of the Findlay Municipal Court and/or his designee. AT WILL positions can be terminated or modified without cause with no recourse, totally upon the discretion of the Administrative Judge of the Findlay Municipal Court and/or his designee.

    This job classification is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible to receive overtime pay.

    Illustrative examples of work:

    1. Receives and processes filings such as new civil complaints, collection actions

    and other civil related actions.

    2. Accepts and processes monetary payments on matters relating to civil filings

    or judgment collections.

    3. Responds to telephone and counter inquiries pertaining to general court information and the vast majority of issues related to procedures for civil actions.

    4. Files and scans for electronic storage cases as directed.

    5. Prepares and submission of appeal cases.

    6. And other duties as assigned.

    Essential Knowledge, Attitudes and Skills:

    1. High School diploma or equivalent required.

    2. Knowledge and application of proper English, grammar, spelling, punctuation

    and composition.

    3. Ability to successfully operate basic office equipment and related

    operating programs.

    4. Standard clerical and bookkeeping practices and procedures.

    5. Basic mathematical calculations.

    6. Ability to follow instructions both verbally and in written form.

    7. Self-motivation and loyalty.

    8. Maintain confidentiality.

    9. Understand basic legal terminology pertaining to the functions of the Court.

    10. Exceptionally organized person.

    11. Consistently maintains exceptional work attendance and punctuality.

    12. Demonstrate ability to function effectively with coworkers with a vast

    divergence of personalities.

    13. Shall portray and demonstrate a “can do attitude”.

    14. Shall portray and demonstrate professional demeanor during all interactions.

    Special Requirements:

    1. Understanding of the Court’s responsibilities, functions, organizational

    structure and purpose.

    2. Responsible for comprehension and application of policies and procedures

    with applicable updates contained within the Court Procedure Manual.

    3. Ability to successfully deal with the full spectrum of citizens the Findlay

    Municipal Court serves, whether plaintiff, defendant, witness, victim, officer, attorney or general public.

    4. Must be able to handle heavy workloads, meet deadlines, and handle stressful

    and sensitive situations.
