Traffic Clerk, Sr. provides administrative and clerical support to the traffic operations function of an organization. Responsible for all aspects of routing, shipping, logging, and tracking of inbound and outbound orders. Being a Traffic Clerk, Sr. contacts transporters for freight pick-up and ensures that cargo is routed appropriately. Communicates changes to routing and timelines. Additionally, Traffic Clerk, Sr. prepares and processes bills of lading (BOL) and other shipping documentation. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Traffic Clerk, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Bachelor's degree in Traffic/Civil Engineering or Transportation Planning or a related field is required. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Two to three years of professional experience in Traffic Engineering to include signal design, signal timing and system operation; two or more years of progressively more responsible supervisory or managerial experience. Possess a valid driver's license issued by the state of Georgia or Alabama or be able to obtain one within sixty-days (60) after begin hired. Registration as a Professional Engineer preferred.
