Traffic Director leads and directs the traffic department to efficiently and safely move materials and products to designated destinations. Develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs. Being a Traffic Director evaluates and selects appropriate transportation carriers and routes. Resolves delivery issues for both internal and external customers. Additionally, Traffic Director monitors, analyzes, and reviews loss and damage claims and makes recommendations for improved safety. Oversees costs and processes to adhere to budgets. Ensures compliance with all DOT/OSHA guidelines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Traffic Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Job Summary:

    The Traffic Control Safety Coordinator will assist in the facilitation and management of the companies’ environmental, health & safety program. The Traffic Control Safety Coordinator reports to the Director of Safety and works closely with the operations team to conduct audits, train employees, maintain EH&S records, monitor performance, investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and represent the company during customer or agency inspections or other interactions. This position will be responsible for the monitoring of and enforcement of safe work zones as set forth by the MUTCD, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, New Jersey Department of Transportation, and American Traffic Safety Service Association (ATSSA).

    The position travels to selected work zones to ensure proper conditions are met in accordance with ATSSA and Artio Traffic Protection safety policies. The position oversees the traffic control employees to ensure all work zones and safety policies are adhered to at each job site.

    Essential Job Duties/Functions:

    • Comprehend and work with applicable state and federal regulations, and company programs to drive compliance by assuring elements such as training, record keeping, and operations meet requirements.
    • Schedule, conduct and track EH&S training on subjects such as emergency procedures, PPE, etc. As needed, develop EH&S topics and provide training to address new conditions or trends at the company.
    • Inspect and make corrections to work zones to ensure the movement of vehicular traffic around work zones is safe.
    • Ensure all Artio Traffic Protection employees are wearing proper safety gear (PPE) on the job.
    • Ensure there are no unauthorized persons and/or vehicles and loitering in or around work zones.
    • Lead incident investigations of workplace injuries, casualty losses, or environmental events. Properly record and report on such incidents. Provide follow up 5-Why assessments and drive corrective actions.
    • Maintain and publish weekly EH&S reports of incidents, good catches, and near misses.
    • Maintain all EH&S records in an ”audit ready” condition.
    • Support/lead safety programs such as employee observation and coaching, weekly safety meetings, safety record celebration events, etc. Provide support and material for tool box talks. Track safety actions, drive completion, and implement programs to assure that activities were completed.
    • Attend local and regional workshops and conferences.
    • Be available for management meetings as needed.

    Work Environment:

    • Job is performed while traveling in a company provided vehicle to inspect work zones.
    • Office Space at Artio Traffic Protection headquarters in Schwenksville, PA for assigned admin tasks.

    Physical Demands:

    • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Significant travel is expected for this position.

    Required:

    • Valid Driver License
    • Clean Driving Record
    • Detail oriented with effective written and oral communication skills.
    • Computer skills including; Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
    • Successful completion of the 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety & Health (29 CFR 1926) Course.
    • Must have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously and work well with all levels of the organization.
    • Individual must be comfortable with public speaking since providing safety training in group settings is a primary responsibility.
    • Must have leadership and people skills with ability to motivate and speak to employees in a professional manner.

    Desired:

    • Bachelor’s /Associates Degree and or extensive experience in this field.
    • Knowledge of MUTCD/PennDOT/NJDOT traffic regulations, OSHA excellent observation skills, mastery of roadway traffic control and flagging/safety operations, and associated responsibilities such as proper positioning of signage, cones, and barricades.
    • Flagger certification from a recognized training program such as American Safety Services Association, National Safety Council or a recognized construction industry association.
    • 1 year of experience in roadway/utility traffic safety.
    • Minimum 2-years of construction safety/utility related experience.
    • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual communication skills.
    • Located in Bucks or Montgomery County PA

    • Strong organizational skills to participate in multiple projects tasks simultaneously prioritize assignments and prepare daily inspection reports.
    • Strong understanding of regulatory, professional, and industry standards and practices.
