    Every Dog Behavior and Training is a 5-year-old nonprofit dedicated to making dog training and behavior resources inclusive and accessible to the Austin community. Our certified trainers and behavior consultants offer group classes and private training throughout the area.


    We’re not your typical training organization! Our mission is to make training accessible for all, offering financial assistance across our programs to ensure cost never prevents families from accessing the support they need. We host free webinars on a variety of topics, including a BIPOC Speaker Series to increase representation within the dog training industry. We also reserve free spots in our classes for shelter dogs and provide financial assistance for families who face barriers in accessing veterinary behaviorist support.

    Job Description


    We’re seeking a Supervisor to lead our team of dog trainers at our Community Center. The ideal candidate is a people-first leader, passionate about helping staff grow and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. This person will ensure every community member receives top-notch service and training, with a focus on making programs accessible to all, regardless of background or financial status.

    The Supervisor will oversee all operations at our training facility—from scheduling classes and managing inventory to tracking budgets and creating strategies for inclusive outreach. Reporting to the Executive Director, they will lead with compassion, centering equity in all their practices to remove barriers for those seeking our services.


    Responsibilities


    Leadership and Staff Supervision – 40%

    • Lead and support a team of 10-12 trainers, focusing on collaboration and professional development.
    • Develop policies, procedures, and systems that promote efficient, equitable, and inclusive practices.
    • Foster a culture of community and accountability, stepping in to support and cover training classes when needed.
    • Ensure the team stays current on Every Dog’s classes, services, pricing, and policies.
    • Assist with recruiting, training, and mentoring volunteers and externs.


    Program Administration – 30%

    • Optimize class schedules and services to meet the diverse needs of our clients, ensuring maximum community impact.
    • Manage invoicing and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payment for services.
    • Oversee retail operations, including inventory management and sales tracking.
    • Monitor and manage the facility’s budget, tracking expenses and forecasting financial needs.
    • Use standardized KPIs to evaluate training programs and adapt them based on community feedback.


    Client Satisfaction – 20%

    • Ensure team members deliver exceptional service with compassion and understanding.
    • Foster welcoming, inclusive client interactions and step in to resolve conflicts as needed.
    • Serve as a community liaison, building partnerships with local vets, shelters, and groups.
    • Continuously seek ways to make Every Dog’s programs more accessible to individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities.


    Facility Management – 10%

    • Maintain a clean and safe facility for staff, clients, and dogs, following industry standards.
    • Ensure all necessary maintenance is completed promptly.
    • Monitor and restock cleaning and training supplies as needed.

    Experience and Skills

    • Experience managing a customer-facing organization with a focus on high-quality service delivery (2 years preferred but not required; we’re open to developing the right candidate).
    • Experience managing teams (preferably 5 employees), with a focus on professional development and collaboration. We welcome candidates with demonstrated leadership potential, even if their experience doesn’t perfectly match.
    • Experience in budgeting and financial oversight to ensure smooth operations.
    • Dog training experience is preferred but not required.


    Salary & Benefits


    Salary: $52,000 (Note: We do not negotiate salaries to ensure equity; our pay is based on market research and cost-of-living estimates.)

    Schedule: Full-time, 5 days/week, including at least 1 weekend day and some evenings each week.


    Benefits

    • Health: $200 monthly Health Reimbursement Account for insurance, unlimited sick days.
    • Time off: 4 weeks (160 hours) of paid time off, 7 paid holidays (Jan 1st, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve).
    • Professional development: $250/year for continuing education.
    • Financial: 401k plan, free group dog training class annually (up to $250), discounts on merchandise and retail.

    Physical requirements: Ability to stand or sit for 2-3 hours during training classes and lift, carry, and move boxes or dog training equipment.
