The Training & Development Manager facilitates implementation of appropriate change management initiatives associated with organizational transition activities. Manages, designs, and implements policies and procedures relating to organizational development. Being a Training & Development Manager guide and develop a responsive internal training team. Implement meaningful, relevant, employee and manager training and development activities that link to company goals and objectives and meet the needs of managers. In addition, Training & Development Manager may coordinate with outside consultants and training providers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Training & Development Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • The ideal candidate will understand the entire process surrounding a development project, from the initial concept plan through the collection of closeout documentation. This individual will be a detail-oriented and organized self-starter, experienced in the industry with a high degree of initiative and judgement.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate with outside consultants included but not limited to architects, engineers, and contractors
    • Collaborate with internal development team to regularly communicate project status
    • Manage progress of due diligence, design, entitlement, permitting, construction, etc.
    • Negotiate landlord work cost estimates to ensure most cost-efficient lease language
    • Manage permitting and zoning procedures for all development/construction projects
    • Understand commercial/retail lease language as it relates to Landlord construction obligations and deliverables to develop project schedules based on design, permitting, and construction time frames to set tenant delivery dates in coordination with development team
    • Review leases to provide feedback on all matters related to the design and construction of physical improvements
    • Review, advise and approve construction drawings
    • Communicate with retailer project management teams to ensure efficient understanding of team expectations to mitigate landlord risk and creatively value engineer landlord deliverables, while cultivating national retailer relationships
    • Timely identify project concerns throughout construction and determine efficient solutions to mitigate any project delays and/or change orders
    • Represent our team to act as liaison between tenants, owners, contractors, and city officials


    Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Architecture or Civil Engineering is preferred.
    • 3-5 years minimum applicable experience or other previous experience demonstrating the use of skills needed to execute this position successfully.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strategic listening skills are necessary to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgment and diplomacy when interacting and/or negotiating with all levels of internal and external partners.
    • Computer proficiency with Word, Excel, GIS and project management software required.
