Overview:

The Transportation Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing all transportation activities, ensuring the efficient and timely movement of materials to and from the yard as well as managing a small team of drivers.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee, track and maintain all transportation assets.
• Collaborate with buyers and operational personnel on appointment bookings, ship dates, and load out dates.
• Oversee transportation department budget. Analyze and communicate cost of runs to ensure profitability of the department and maintain lowest freight costs feasible.
• Oversee commercial scale operations to promote fluidity of incoming and outgoing loads.
• Oversee driver incentive program.
• Conduct employment interviews and work with HR to ensure department is fully staffed.
• Ensures that all transportation team members receive proper training and maintain the proper licensing and documentation necessary to operate equipment.
• Track and maintain documentation, including but not limited to, driver files and DVIRs.
• Ensure equipment repairs are reported to maintenance team to minimize downtime.
• Conduct employee evaluations and ride alongs with drivers.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk/climb in active an active, industrial environment with uneven surfaces.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.

Experience:

• Excellent knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
• Excellent knowledge of operations, leadership, analytical, communication and computer skills.
• Must have a valid drivers license, CDL Class A license preferred.
• 5 years knowledge of logistics, transportation management and people management preferred.
