Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing bridge engineering and/or inspection tasks in the transportation engineering field through application of relevant and established design criteria, standards, and processes. This position requires the ability to work with a team on multiple bridge and/or transportation engineering projects at various stages.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide bridge engineering services in response to department needs
• Develop reports, calculations, and drawings for projects
• Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of industry codes, standards, and assist with design using CADD and other design software
• Conduct structural inspections of all structure types
• Prepare and demonstrate proficiency and competency with structural design calculations, structural analyses, and bridge load ratings; the ability to use advanced analysis software preferred, not required
• Demonstrate proficiency in preparing inspection reports using iForms, BMS2, and National Bridge Elements (NBE), etc
• Conduct condition assessments of existing structures and prepares reports
• May provide quality oversight (QA/QC review) for bridge inspection and/or structural engineering work performed by others
• Assist more senior staff in carrying out complex tasks
• Ability to express both technical and non-technical issues and ideas clearly
• Demonstrate time management and staying on budget
• Complete tasks with little to no revisions
• Maintain billability percentage set by supervisor/leadership
• Supports internal departments with bridge inspection and structural services required to execute projects

• Participate in professional and engineering society conferences
• Contribute and serve on ACEC committees and subcommittees
• Participate in research and development opportunities and projects
• Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, client relations, and/or inter-departmental relations
• Contribute to the overall success of Mackin by supporting internal departments, providing exemplary service to clients, and striving to meet on-going initiatives to grow and develop the company
