Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Transportation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Transportation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Depot Manager
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment.- Maintain effective communications with school bus drivers by means of bulletins, memo's and meetings
- Monitor and approve time of all staff.
- Prepare an annual written evaluation for all transportation staff.
- Prepare routes and schedules.
- Verify that all bus drivers are properly qualified and correctly licensed.
- Update and maintain a roster of students transported.
- Prepare routes and schedules for all assigned students.
Requirements:
-High School Diploma
- Hold Ohio Pupil Transportation Certificate
- Meet current health requirements
-BCI/FBI Background check
- Valid drivers license with CDL Class B ,school bus and passenger endorsements
- Supervisory Skills
-Knowledge of school bus safety, laws, and regulations.
- Knowledge of vehicle
-Record keeping and book keeping skills to monitor operations.
_ Computer skills knowledge of Transfinder routing program.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
