Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Transportation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Transportation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Responsibilities
    • Collaboratively lead a variety of projects, which may include traffic and transit simulation, campus plans, multimodal corridor studies, transportation impact studies, bicycle and pedestrian studies, regional transportation plans, and more 
    • Analyze and solve complex transportation planning or engineering problems involving all travel modes 
    • Communicate clearly and concisely using strong writing and presentation skills 
    • Make effective, timely and informed recommendations to elected officials, managers, and decision-makers 
    • Develop and expand high-quality internal and client relationships  


    Qualifications
    • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in transportation, civil engineering, urban and regional planning, or a related major (e.g., geography, math, statistics, economics) 
    • 3 years of directly relevant work experience in one or more of the following areas: transportation planning (e.g., bicycle or transit plans, infrastructure finance, transportation and land use policy), transportation operations analysis, transportation engineering and streetscape design, transportation demand management (TDM), and/or travel demand forecasting
    • Excellent technical writing and public speaking skills 
    • Experience with project management and marketing
    • Professional license (highly desirable) 
    • Willingness to travel to other geographic markets, on occasion

    $92,000 - $145,000 a year
    The salary range for this position is $92,000 to $145,000 annually. Placement within the stated pay range will be determined based upon education, experience, and qualifications.
