Operations Manager

We are currently looking to recruit an Operations Manager to join our growing team !

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead, guide and direct employees; including setting targets, monitoring performance, providing coaching, counseling and development to be accountable for an efficient, clean and safe LTL operation
• Monitor dock operations to ensure proper loading techniques and OS&D procedures
• Enforce understanding and compliance with safety rules, government regulations and all Company policies
• Involved in and makes recommendations in the hiring and termination processes
• Ensure team’s adherence to carrier selection, considering cost and service requirements
• Review dispatch requests, assign carriers, and dispatch shipments across multiple modes, creating and/or updating bills of lading and updating shipment status information
• Monitor shipments to ensure on-time pickup and delivery to meet customer and company requirements.
• Communicate and liaison with internal clients as well as carriers
• Manage and set schedules for team to ensure adequate operational coverage and capacity to ensure proper support.
• Conduct safety meetings
• Monitor and analyze all opportunities to improve efficiencies
• Monitor actual performance data and gather information for performance reviews
• Other duties as requested or assigned

Required Skills and Abilities:

• High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED)
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry, including basic paperwork flow preferred
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required, preferably in LTL trucking industry
• Must be knowledgeable of local metropolitan area
• Must have strong leadership skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, mentor and terminate employees
• Team building and interpersonal skills
• Excellent planning and organization skills
• Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities
• Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel & Word), basic knowledge and understanding of TMS applications (experience with TruckMate or MercuryGate is a plus)
• Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job
