Truck Driver - Heavy operates a large or heavy truck that transports cargo to and from specified locations on time and according to schedule. Operates vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all DOT and company safety regulations. Being a Truck Driver - Heavy conducts routine inspections prior to departure to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition. Manages appropriate cargo documentation and provides necessary paperwork upon the delivery of goods. Additionally, Truck Driver - Heavy coordinates the loading and unloading of the truck, verifying cargo and ensuring items are properly stored and secured. Maintains contact with dispatcher to provide status updates, clarify special instructions, and notify about delays or issues during transport. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. May require a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Truck Driver - Heavy works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Duties
- Perform equipment repairs and maintenance tasks as assigned
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order
- Complete work orders and maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed
- Collaborate with team members to prioritize and complete repair tasks in a timely manner
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines when working with equipment
Experience
- Previous experience as a heavy equipment technician or in a similar role preferred
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients and address their equipment concerns
- Five (5) plus years experience
- Knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical systems
- Ability to align, repair, and maintain various types of equipment
- Familiarity with automotive repair techniques and tools
- Understanding of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications and procedures
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify equipment issues
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor as required
