Truck Driver - Light operates a truck that transports small or light cargo to and from specified locations on time and according to schedule. Operates vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all DOT and company safety regulations. Being a Truck Driver - Light conducts routine inspections prior to departure to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition. Manages appropriate cargo documentation and provides necessary paperwork upon the delivery of goods. Additionally, Truck Driver - Light coordinates the loading and unloading of the truck, verifying cargo and ensuring items are properly stored and secured. Maintains contact with dispatcher to provide status updates, clarify special instructions, and notify about delays or issues during transport. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class B. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Truck Driver - Light works under moderate supervision. Helena's truck drivers are reliable and dependable and represent Helena in a courteous and professional manner while out on the road and at the home office. Our drivers are required to use tact and diplomacy in all situations dealing with our customers and other Helena team members and leadership.
POSITION DETAILS- Assists in loading trailer with materials.
- Unloads trailer by using forklift or hand truck.
- Transports loads over required route to proper destinations.
- Obtains shipping bills and necessary signatures.
- Returns completed paperwork to the shipping office.
- Removes empty skids from trailer truck and carries them to designated piling area.
- Performs miscellaneous service duties such as checking oil, water, gasoline and air in tires on a daily basis.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
- Reliable and regular attendance is expected.
