Truck Service Technician troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs, reconditions, and services truck engine systems and components. Communicates findings and recommendations to customers and management. Being a Truck Service Technician must be competent in electrical components, hydraulics, and electric power fundamentals. Fully trained in safety and machine preparation and is capable of managing work documentation. Additionally, Truck Service Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Truck Service Technician may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Diesel Truck and Trailer Technicians are responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all the trucks and trailers at our Birmingham terminal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.
• Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical repairs. Including but not limited to: fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, wheel seals, fluid changes, chassis, brakes, engine tune-ups, body work, and general preventative maintenance.
• Performs trouble shooting on major problems.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
• Advises the Leadman/Shop Foreman if additional repair work is needed.
• Performs general repair work on flatbed trailers including brakes, wheels, lights, and decking.
• Follows safety practices and shop regulations.
• Completes paperwork as required to accurately document the work performed on vehicles.
Qualifications:
• Must have at least one year of service technician experience, preferably with heavy duty trucks and trailers, or a certification from a technical school
• Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.

CDL preferred – ability to move a semi in and out of shop
